We had a great first nine weeks!

ELA: We will now focus on vowels, blending CVC words, sight words, and retelling stories with details!

Math: We will work on numbers through 20, comparing sets, and 2D & 3D shapes.

Science: We will discuss physical properties and different materials.

Social Studies: We will study wants and needs.

First Grade

First grade has been learning about fall. We learned about apples and made applesauce!

ELA: We will begin learning about spiders and pumpkins. We are excited for October fun!

Math: We have been learning to add within 2o and subtract from 20. Please continue to work on math facts.

We are so proud of our kids for their hard work!

Second Grade

ELA: We will use the following book’s to practice our reading skills: I Need My Monster, Stellaluna, Spiders, Turk & Runt, Rough Face Girl, Those Shoes, How to Catch Santa, The Legend of the Poinsettia, and Who’s That Knocking on Christmas Eve.

Math: We will work on adding and subtracting within 100, story problems within 100, telling time, and arrays.

Science: We will study matter and weather.

Social Studies: We will study rules/laws and timelines/historic events.

Third Grade

ELA: We will move into our Reading module about Space.

Math: We will continue working on multi-step word problems using addition, subtraction, and multiplication.

Science: We will focus on Matter.

Social Studies: We will be looking at changes in our community.

Fourth Grade

We had a great start to school!

ELA: We are gearing up to study the fiction standards of character traits and inference. Be on the lookout for multi-sensory learning and several small projects to show what we know.

Math: We have covered place value, rounding, multiplying, and multi-step word problems.

Science: We will study electricity and it promises to be “hair raising” fun!

Social Studies: We will study NC resources and Native people groups.

Fifth Grade

Fifth grade had a great first nine weeks! Remember to utilize the Canvas “To-Do List” and “Upcoming” list to keep track of assignments. Check grades in PowerSchool.

ELA: Teachers will share the new novel study.

Math: We will work on multiplication and division concepts – volume, fractions as division, multiplication strategies, and multiplying fractions.

Science: We will begin the unit on the Human body.
