Last school year, over 800 students were tardy to our elementary schools everyday. This year, the CCS is ‘teaming up’ with parents to combat student tardiness from grades kindergarten through 12th. As we have examined student data, it was discovered that some students are repeatedly missing large blocks of instructional time because of tardiness. Many of them are being checked in to school one hour late every day. We also have many who are being checked out by their parent/guardian early each day as well. Because of this,  the CCS is launching a campaign to help tackle tardiness titled “Every Minute Counts! From start to finish, class time matters.”

Students in DesksSeptember is National School Attendance Month.  At Stoney Point, instructional time is viewed as a precious resource and regular school attendance improves student learning.  Good Attendance is a habit we should build as soon as children start school.  When children miss school, they miss out on their future.  Our Stoney Point Pledge starts with:  “I Pledge to come to school each day, prepared to do my best.”
Let’s join together as a team to promote learning by alleviating tardies, absenteeism, and early check outs.
“Every Minute Counts!  From start to finish, class time matters!
