American Education Week

Students in DesksAmerican Education Week presents all Americans with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education. Stoney Point will be celebrating American Education Week Tuesday, November 13th – Friday November 16th. Each day of the week has a theme and students are encouraged to dress for that particular theme.

We will also be collecting books for schools who lost their libraries due to the hurricanes. If you wish to donate books, please leave them with your child’s teacher.

Tuesday –  Wear Red, White, and Blue
Wednesday – Your Future Self Day (Dress as what you want your future career to be when you grow up.)
Thursday – Super Student Day (Wear a super hero shirt, socks, etc.)
Friday – Spirit Day (Wear your Stoney Point attire and show your school spirit.)

 

        
Operation Turkey

Turkey DinnerOperation Turkey was founded in Austin Texas in the year 2000. It has served 121,306 total meals to the homeless and less fortunate across the country. Each Thanksgiving, Operation Turkey effectively organizes volunteers consisting of individuals, families, friends, and businesses to cook, prepare, and deliver thousands of hot meals and provide other necessities to many people in need. Operation Turkey will be located at the Salvation Army on Wednesday, November 21st 6:00 am – 11:55 pm and on Thursday, November 22nd 7:00 am – 12:00 noon.

Donation BoxIn an effort to help Stoney Point families affected by the Hurricane Florence and others in need, we are currently accepting donations for non- perishable food items.  Please drop items off to your child’s teacher. We will be collecting donations through Nov 16,

Principal Of The Year

Michael Tucker - Principal of the YearMichael C. Tucker, principal of Stoney Point Elementary School, is the Cumberland County Schools’ 2019 Principal of the Year. The 19-year education veteran has served as a school administrator for 11 years and started his career in the field after receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Fayetteville State University. He later obtained two master’s degrees, one in modern American history from Temple University and the other in school administration from FSU. While this is Tucker’s first year as the principal of Stoney Point Elementary, he has served as an administrator in several elementary schools around the county.

America Recycles Day

Recycle CraftIn celebration of “America Recycles” Day, we are asking you to create a recycled craft with your child using materials that you may be getting rid of or throwing away. This is a great opportunity for some creative bonding time!
Please make sure that your child’s project fits in a one foot by one foot space, there is no height limit. Projects will be put on display as they are turned in. The final date for turn in is Thursday, November 15th. Projects will be on display until the end of the month. Please come and see our school’s projects.
